Representative Gwen Graham was in town Wednesday making her first big announcement. She hopes to gain the support of local veterans wounded since 9/11.

The new piece of legislation known as the Veterans Education Training Act will be put in place to train and hire more recovery coordinators to help the most seriously injured post 9/11 soldiers. Graham announced the new bill at Gulf Coast State College with the support of a local group of war heroes.

Recovery coordinators assist the most seriously injured veterans in their transition from active duty to veteran status. The Congresswoman says the new legislation is designed to give them assistance with everyday needs that we may take for granted.

“This helps that person with a whole host of issues as they return home. It is health care; it is education; it is housing, whatever that man or women needs in terms of assistance, their recovery coordinator is there to help,” said Graham.

Next, Congresswoman Graham will take the bill to Washington for approval.
